John Grigg 132 lbs State Champion

John hammered his way through the 2012 State tournament out scoring his opponents 57-14. His performance made him the 14th East Gaston wrestler to win a state title, running the individual title count to 24. He's the second Grigg brother to grace the top of the state podium for the Warrior's. After an impressive regional performance which earned him the regional Outstanding Wrestler award it was time to take care of business in Greensboro. He majored or tech falled his way to the finals where he jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and he never looked back.

Congratulations to Michael Bedard State Bronze medalist.

Michael battled his way back through the consolation bracket and avenged his quarter final loss to finish 3rd.

His 48-4 season record brings him to 128-14 for his career and makes him a member of the Century Club.

East Gaston’s Grigg voted most outstanding
East Gaston senior John Grigg took first place in his weight class and was voted most outstanding wrestler at the 4A West wrestling regional Saturday at Hough High School.
Grigg defeated Hough’s Tanner Russ 19-4 at 132 pounds in the final round to claim the regional title. East Gaston had two other state qualifiers as Jacob Grigg took first at 126 and Michael Bedard placed second at 120.

Congratulations to Jacob Grigg.
His semi-finals match in the conference tournament put him in the Century Club (100+ career wins). He was also voted the MEGA 7 Conference tournament Outstanding Wrestler.

The 2012 team wrapped up the regular season as MEGA-7 conference runner-up to Charlotte Catholic. The team placed 3rd in the Conference Tournament placing eight of the nine wrestlers in the tournament.

The team lost to Porter Ridge in the Dual state playoffs 39-42 after giving up 30 points in forfeits.
