Jim B. Hayes tough as always

The Jim B. Hayes which has been held at East Meck high school for the last 44 years, but this year due to space restraints in was moved to Rocky River HS. The new venue didn't weaken the competition. East Gaston had back to back champions at 120 and 126 and runners up at 132 and 138. Cody Moore battled back after an early round loss to capture a bronze medal. Only eight Warriors competed but the team was still able to finish 3rd. One of the most anticipated matches of the finals was between John Grigg and 2X state champion Garrison White of JM Robinson. It didn't disappoint. John scored first with a dominate double leg, but fell behind by 2 points going into the 3rd period and managed to score a reversal with 10 seconds left to force an overtime. John gave up a take down in overtime, but it was a great match.
